Age test in U-17 Junior National Hockey Championship !

Close on the heels of Haryana being suspended from the tournament for fielding six over-age players, similar doubts have been raised about the team from Chandigarh. The team from the union territory beat Delhi 3-1 in the Junior National Hockey Championship for boys under-17 here on Thursday. However, the losing team have lodged a protest claiming that seven of the Chandigarh players were over-age.
This has forced the organisers to conduct medical test on the players, who have been accused of fudging their age. The outcome of the results are awaited.
On Monday, Haryana were ejected from the tournament after 10 of their 16 players were found to be overage. The two teams clashed in their second league encounter of Pool E, with Chandigarh prevailing 3-1. But soon after, Delhi lodged an official protest regarding the age of seven Chandigarh players. As a result, the suspected players, who are all part of the starting eleven, were sent over to a local clinic to undergo the age-check routine.
