Renjith Maheswary qualifies for London Olympics 2012

Triple jumper Renjith Maheswary qualifies for London Olympic 2012 by reaching 16.85 metres on the opening day of the Federation Cup athletics championships at the NIS Complex. Triple jumper Renjith Maheswary became the 10th Indian athlete to win a ticket to the London Olympic Games 2012.The national record holder leapt 16.85m - 'B' qualification standard for the Olympics - in his fifth and penultimate attempt. 
Maheshwary, former Asian champion and bronze medallist at the Delhi Commonwealth Games, started with a moderate 15.84m and went on to improve it with 16.51 and 16.56 before making a foul jump on the fourth. His fifth attempt helped him book ticket to London. He, in the process, bettered his own meet record of his 16.72m, which was created in 2007. Renjith Maheshwary, born in Kottayam, represented India at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
