Olympics Boxing: Shiv Thapa loses in Round 32

India's Shiva Thapa lost his round of 32 match in the men's bantamweight 56kg category to end his medal hopes at the Olympics 2012. The Indian youngster lost 9-14 to Mexico's Oscar Valdez Fierro to bow out of the event. Inexperience cost the Indian and by the time it ended, his stamina had given way as well. India had seven boxers at the Olympics, now they have six.
Thapa lost the first round narrowly 2-4. He then made a solid comeback in the second round and landed some decent punches on his opponent. He won the second round 4-3. The scores were then 6-7, in the favour of the Mexican. For Shiva Thapa, the Olympic journey might have ended in one sense but it has just begun in the other.
