Olympics medalists meet PM, Sonia, LK Advani

India's Olympic medal winners, along with several other members of the contingent that participated in the London Games, met PPrime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi met the six medal winners of the London Olympics on Friday at the Prime Minister’s residence. Later on the contingent also met BJP leader L K Advani at his residence.
Prime Minister congratulated the medal winners for their exemplary performance during the games. During the occasion Sports Minister Ajay Maken and IOA acting president VK Malhotra were also present. Senior leader of Bharatiya Janta Party, L K Advani met Olympic medal winners and congratulated them on their historic feat. Meanwhile, sports Minister Ajay Maken said Indian athletes performance has changed Indian public perceptions to Olympic games. Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will also felicitate the London Olympics medal winners and all the sports persons who participated in the mega event. The Indian Olympic Association had sent to London 81 athletes to compete in 13 sports making it the largest contingent that India has ever sent to Olympic Games. India won 6 medals—2 Silver and 4-Bronze which is by far the best performance by the country in terms of number of medals won at any single Olympics Games.
